News Just Hit: 9-16-20

Sports Venues of Florida Announces Shadow Gaming to Start Its Premium Subscription Service

  • Sports Venues of Florida (STOCK:BTHR) has launched into rapidly growing $1.8 billion global eSports market. (1)
  • The Company is already capitalizing as the total eSports audience grows to 495 million people, representing 11.7% growth year over year. (2)
  • Subsidiary Shadow Gaming has seen strong growth in percentage terms with gaming followers on Twitch, Discord, and Facebook. Shadow Gaming on Discord alone has seen monthly sequential growth of 5,533%, 948%, and 488% over the past three months. (3)
  • “We have predicated our strategy on the independent game scene, instead of the blockbuster AAA game market,” says Luis A. Arce, President of Shadow Gaming. “To our knowledge, we are the only major eSports entity with that unique strategic focus.

U.S. News & World Report says, “The global eSports audience is expected to double from 335 million in 2017 to 646 million by 2023, according to Business Insider. Newzoo, a source for games market insights and analytics, projects eSports revenue could hit $1.8 billion by 2022.” (4)
Barron’s reports that advertising spending on eSports could grow to more than $213.8 billion this year. That’s as the eSports appeal grows. For example, this year, 30.3 million people in the U.S. will watch an eSports event, up 18% year over year. (5)
And, according to Research and Markets, eSports could be a $3 billion market by 2025. (6)

“With the proliferation of smartphones with more and more processing power coupled with 5G network gaining popularity, In the same period, the gaming industry is expected to be more interactive and streaming-based. The countries that generate a major portion of the revenue in the gaming industry include China, Japan, US, Germany, South Korea, France, Canada, and UK,” added Research and Markets. (7)

From here, investment eSports interest is only likely to increase with the introduction of more franchise-style leagues, the centralization of eSports teams, and continued explosive growth in audience size, added analysts at Deloitte. (8)

Helping, more people are spending more time watching eSports.

In 2012, people spent about 1.3 billion hours watching eSports videos. By 2013, it was up to 2.4 billion hours. By 2019, millions of people spent 6.6 billion hours watching eSports. (9)

It’s also no wonder smart investors have been pouring money into related stocks
One company that’s already had a monster run is Tencent Holdings Ltd., which ran from a low of approximately $16.55 to a recent high of approximately $67.

That’s an increase of about 305%.

Another winner has been Huya Inc., which ran from approximately $15 to approximately $30.

Even the big boys are getting involved with the eSports boom.

  • Activision Blizzard already publishes several eSports games, including Overwatch League and the Call of Duty league. At the same time, Activision could pull in millions of dollars just in advertising and sponsorships for such games. In fact, Anheuser Busch, Coca-Cola, and State Farm are some of the top sponsors of the Overwatch League.
  • Take Two Interactive’s NBA 2K League is well positioned to turn into one of the most watched eSports leagues around.
  • Electronic Arts just announced that one of its biggest eSports franchises, Madden NFL 21 will feature a tournament series called Derwin James vs. The World, where the NFL superstar will face off in game plays against others every week.
  • Draftkings Inc. CEO Jason Robbins just said “eSports was really small for us until, you know about two months ago. eSports has stuck. It’s been a huge growth area over the last couple months for us and [it’s] hard to say what it will look like once the traditional sports are back, but I think a lot of people are finding it fun.”

All knowing just how big the eSports market boom could get.

“Video Gaming revenue has the very real potential to be a trillion dollar business over the next ten years. One of those drivers of growth is esports. Interactive gaming is the largest entertainment revenue generating vertical in the world earning more than box office and music sales combined,” says Michael Rubinelli, the current CEO of the online esports platform Mogul and former executive at Electronic Arts, Disney and Midway. Why Sports Venues of Florida (STOCK:BTHR) Could Be A Heavyweight

eSports is a sector that will continue to evolve and develop, says Luis A. Arce, President of Shadow Gaming. “We have a differentiated market strategy already in play, and we aren’t very far from beginning to monetize it to drive tangible value to our shareholders.” (11)

“We have predicated our strategy on the independent game scene, instead of the blockbuster AAA game market,” he added. “To our knowledge, we are the only major eSports entity with that unique strategic focus. There are indie game studios all over the world that regularly generate titles that build followings in the millions of players. But because they don’t reach tens of millions, the monolithic eSports establishment doesn’t cater to those titles in terms of serious organized gaming events. With no support, enthusiastic players that love these games spend their own money to create their own events. We are working to effectively roll up that market. And we seem to have no competition in that effort.”

Better still, Shadow Gaming has already seen strong, tangible growth in percentage terms already with gaming followers on Twitch, Discord, and Facebook. Shadow Gaming on Discord alone has seen monthly sequential growth of 5,533%, 948%, and 488% over the past three months. Event participation has grown between 90-120% iteratively across multiple games.
