Sovereign Wealth Fund

A sovereign wealth fund is a state-owned pool of money that invests in activities to (theoretically) benefit the country’s economy and citizens. Sovereign wealth funding usually comes from central bank reserves that accumulate through trade surpluses and through revenue generated from the exports of natural resources.
